A Groove Feed Bush (also known as a grooved feed sleeve or grooved feed insert) is a cylindrical, precision-machined insert installed at the feed zone of an extruder barrel. It has helical or straight grooves cut into its inner surface, which significantly enhance material feeding, especially in high-output extrusion processes.

It is typically made of nitrided tool steel or bimetallic alloy for durability and wear resistance.

The Groove Feed Bush:

• Increases friction between the pellets and the barrel wall

• Reduces slipping of pellets in the feed zone

• Enhances compression and conveying efficiency

• Improves throughput and pressure stability

• Enables uniform material feeding into the extruder screw

Particularly useful when processing HDPE, LDPE, PP, and rigid polymers.
